The TOWRP base was made from two layers of closed-cell foam. The outer dimensions of the base were sized to the maximum allowed footprint from the project specifications (18” x 24”). We used this size to allow large waterwheels, a ball cavity, and maintain space for electronics etc. A 1/8” acrylic platform was placed on the foam with the same dimensions, and was used to mount motors, Tupperware, team indicators, and the backboard. The team indicators were two neon lights – red and blue. The backboard was slanted and had the ‘kicker’ motor attached at an angle. Additional weight was added to the front of the platform to even the weight distribution given the electronics, batteries, and waterwheels resulted in a back-heavy design.
