Circuits for Side Selection

Description and Calculations

This circuit uses a single pole triple throw switch to turn on either a Red or Green LED, or to turn on neither and conserve battery power. At the beginning of the match, the state machine checks AD ports 5 and 6, which are used for digital input, to see which one is low. If that port is low, the LED is on, indicating that particular side was selected.

Power calc for the LEDs:
Forward voltage for large LEDs min 1.5V, so current is (5V-1.5V)/100 = 35mA each.
Power used = IV = (35mA)*(5V) = 0.175W
